Annelies Smith, SMTT, RMT has been practicing bodywork with infants, children, and adults since 1996. She has taught movement classes for adults, children and the elderly.
Annelies. Smith earned her degree in Movement Studies from Naropa University in Boulder, CO. She continued her studies with Martha Eddy's Somatic Movement Therapy Training program at Moving On Center in Oakland, CA and she also studied at the School for Body-Mind Centering in Amherst, MA. She is a member of the Body-Mind Centering Association, and the International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association.
In 2001, Annelies began teaching Developmental Movement to kindergarten and first grade students in elementary schools through Very Special Arts of Vermont, a non-profit educational foundation. She initiated and is now teaching a number of ongoing movement and yoga classes for children and adults. She is in her private practice, Origins of Movement, in the Burlington, VT area where she currently resides.
She also teaches Embodyoga a synthesis of Yoga and established Somatic Movement principles on alignment, structure and body-mind centering. Her work promotes efficient movement and a relaxed, cheerful vitality.
Additionally, she works individually with autistic and developmentally delayed children, enabling them to increase cognitive and coordination abilities as well as enhance social and personal awareness. Ms. Smith is currently teaching a course entitled “Body Awareness” at the Community College of Vermont.
