In 2001, Annelies began teaching Developmental Movement to kindergarten and first grade students in elementary schools through Very Special Arts of Vermont, a non-profit educational foundation.
Young children generously share with us the wonder, ease and joy of moving. By offering them an opportunity to explore their movement, we allow children to develop their inherent wisdom, enabling them to relate positively with their enviroment with confidence and open curiosity.
She introduces expressive movement explorations that generate interactive and self modulating skills for the students. She works with small and large classes and also works one-on-one with special needs children, who respond especially well to this work.
"Today was the best day of my life"
- Buddy, age 5.
"Since my class has been working with Annelies, they have been more willing to take risks in their classwork that lead to greater and more imaginative results. Their ability to cooperate with others has become a natural expression in their daily interactions."
Annelies works individually with autistic and developmentally delayed children, enabling them to increase cognitive and coordination abilities as well as enhance social and personal awareness.
